Google’s AI Rules Are Changing—Here’s What You Need to Know

Google is updating its Terms of Service, with the new rules taking effect on July 30, impacting millions of users across the UAE who rely on services like Gmail, Android, Google Drive, Google Photos, Google Maps, and Gemini.

The revised terms reflect Google’s expanding use of artificial intelligence across its products. They provide greater transparency about how AI features operate, how user content may be processed to improve services, and what responsibilities users have when interacting with AI-powered tools.

Among the key updates are new safeguards designed to prevent misuse of AI technologies. The policy explicitly prohibits activities such as AI jailbreaking, prompt injection, phishing, creating fake accounts or reviews, distributing malware, hacking, and falsely presenting AI-generated content as human-created in misleading contexts. Google also restricts the use of AI-generated outputs from its services for training external machine learning models.

While the update is not expected to significantly change how users interact with Google’s services on a day-to-day basis, it reinforces the company’s commitment to responsible AI development, stronger security, and clearer expectations for both users and the platform as artificial intelligence becomes an increasingly integral part of everyday digital experiences
